Tip: Do Email Better
Lately, I've had a higher number of requests for my Slaying the Email Dragon workshop. I haven't been marketing it anymore than usual so I wonder what is prompting this sudden increase. I can only imagine that it is the same reason anyone needs this program: They've never had any formal training on how to write and respond to email effectively, how to organize what comes in, and how to deal with the increasing quantity. Compound this with the probable fact that most people never took a course on how to use their email software efficiently or effectively. It's no wonder people are feeling a need to slay their email dragon!

By getting to know your email software better, you will immediately reap the benefits of less stress and more efficiency. How can you get to know your software better without reading the manual? There are two must-do strategies I recommend:

1 - Make a half-hour appointment with yourself to literally "shake hands with your software." Pull down EVERY available menu and follow every arrowed path. See the capabilities you have and decide which ones you want to use right away. OR if you can't possible find a half-hour, every time you open your email, investigate the possibilities then.

2 - Talk to people who use the same software you do and talk about how each of you use it. Get together for coffee or lunch. Include ideas like keyboard shortcuts, filing schemes, junk mail blocking and so on. You will learn more from other users in 30 minutes than you would from reading any manual.

If when working on email you keep thinking "there has to be a better way to do this", I will almost guarantee you there is. You just need to know where it is and how to do it! I challenge you to learn ONE new thing about your software TODAY. (And if you get really excited about it, let me know what you found!)
