Abby Marks Beale, founder of The Corporate Educator, enjoys helping busy professionals work smarter, faster and just plain better. Her mission is to give business professionals the skills they need to function at peak levels of performance and personal satisfaction.
Abby started her training business in 1988 (formerly called The Reading Edge) to help busy people read better and faster. Her programs grew in popularity and over the years, she added other pertinent business productivity topics like email management and etiquette, and time and stress management. In 2005, she changed the company name to The Corporate Educator to better reflect the company’s wide-range of corporate training offerings. She has added other topics like career coaching, organizing, multi-generational workplace, financial management and business writing using the services of other experts in these fields.
Abby is the author of 10 Days to Faster Reading, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Speed Reading and Success Skills: Strategies for Study and Lifelong Learning 3e. She also frequently writes articles for industry magazines filled with useful time management tips.

Ilana Traverse has more than 25 years’ experience as a highly accomplished consultant, instructional designer, and facilitator. Her customized learning solutions; innovative, targeted workshops; and one-on-one coaching strategies increase business professionals’ competence and confidence in their writing, presentation, and performance management skills.
Founder and principal of IMA Associates since 1998, Ilana held senior training and human resources management positions at major New England financial services institutions. In these roles, Ilana partnered with cross-functional clients to plan and implement staff development initiatives. As a consultant, Ilana has collaborated with clients in human resources, health care, financial services, retail, technology, government services, manufacturing, and education to design and facilitate programs for business writing, presentation skills, interpersonal communication, and team development. By incorporating industry-related content, energizing games and activities, and current tools for today’s communication into every program, Ilana engages participants who consistently rate her sessions as excellent, relevant, informative, fun, and worth the time.
Ilana holds a B.S. in family and consumer studies from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. in human resource management from Lesley University.
Izzy Gesell is an organizational alchemist who helps individuals and organizations transform their thinking from commonplace to extraordinary. Through his keynotes, trainings, coaching and facilitated sessions, Izzy offers imaginative, intuitive and immediately useful insights and programs.
Izzy is skilled at delivering meaningful material in a way that makes participants enjoy their time with him. Izzy was one of the first to use Improv Theater concepts as tools for personal and organizational learning. He is the author of Playing Along: Group Learning Activities Borrowed From Improvisation Theater, a co-author of Humor Me: America’s Funniest Humorists on the Power of Laughter, and a contributor of a chapter on Improvisation as a facilitation tool in the IAF Group Facilitators Handbook. He has trained NASA engineers in leadership, helped Aetna Insurance customer reps learn to mange their stress, and guided Hewlett Packard global managers to communicate more effectively.
Recognized by his peers, Izzy has earned a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation from the National Speakers Association. (Less than 10% of NSA’s 6,000 members are CSPs.) The International Facilitators Association (IAF) regularly calls on him to train facilitators in his techniques. A former stand-up comedian and public school teacher, Izzy was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where commonplace thinking was frowned upon. He has earned a BA in psychology, an MS in education and a P…. that’s 1/3 of a PhD; he now lives in Northampton, Massachusetts.
Karin Joy Whitley
Karin Joy Whitley shares her incredible energy and enthusiam with the Corporate Educator audiences. She is a facilitator of the Taking Control of the Chaos time management program, Meeting Management Made Easy and Energize to Maximize. She combines her background in teaching, corporate training and dance to deliver her messages with creativity and passion.
Karin has extensive experience in participatory instructor-led classes in soft and technical skills training for the sales and service environment in the direct marketing industry. She is a certified AchieveGlobal facilitator in The Service Difference and is qualified to administer the DiSC ® Personal Profile System. Karen is a member of the National Speakers Association and American Society of Training and Development. She also has accomplished CTM status in Toastmasters International and is a past president of the CT Chapter of the International Coaching Federation.
Currently Karin is the corporate training and development specialist at Iroquois Pipeline in Shelton, Connecticut and a Certified Life Coach. She is the author of Unleash Your Energy: 40+ Tips to Energize You Throughout Your Day.
Pamela Mullan is the author of Read More, Faster . . .On-Screen, a co-author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Speed Reading and a skilled speed reading facilitator. . Since 1988, she has been a trainer and course developer for adult education courses, including hard-copy speed reading, on-screen speed reading, computer writing, business writing, creative thinking and computer training.
In 1994, Pam founded the Reading Development Institute based in Dublin, Ireland. The institute specializes in providing hard-copy speed reading programs for government agencies, corporations, professional organizations, colleges, high schools, and graduate and adult education programs. She works full-time as an Assistant Professor of Reading at Onondaga Community College in New York. Pam earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. Her master’s degree in education from Trinity College (Dublin) is focused on on-screen speed reading
Peter Frampton has a passion for teaching accounting and empowering people to say “I can!” understand accounting. In addition to leading workshops for The Corporate Educator, Peter is president and one of the founders of Accounting Comes Alive. Peter is an Australian citizen who grew up in South Africa. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town and qualified as a CPA (Chartered Accountant) while working at KPMG in Sydney, Australia. He has run businesses in the medical, technology, non-profit and education industries in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
Susan Lovallo is a Certified Professional Organizer and Professional Speaker who works with businesses, individuals and families to organize living and office spaces, time, and finances. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. Susan counsels clients on decluttering and is known for creating simple, customized organizing methods that are easy to implement and maintain. Susan also advises business owners on effective accounting systems and record keeping and trains people in QuickBooks and Quicken.
An avid workshop participant herself, Susan completed the Dale Carnegie Training course and became a Graduate Assistant. Susan is active in several business organizations including the National Association of Professional Organizers, the Fairfield Chapter of Business Networking International, the National Speakers Association and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, she served as a board member for many of these organizations.
Susan received her BS in Accounting from Sacred Heart University graduating Magna Cum Laude. She received a Merritt Award from the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Medal of Excellence from Sacred Heart University.
